I almost feel like all these vacations he took were to prove to himself it was okay to spend his money frivolously, when all he was doing was porking himself further.

He thinks they're going to re-litigate his case and that he'll say, "your honor, child, I was swatted by the members of the forum this man runs and the judge will go "oh really... well I invalidate the original case and order the arrest of John Doe 1" and that will be it.
