It’s just an old Technicality Tomlinson straight out of the books. 10% income tax to the feds, 5% to the state of Wisconsin, and 25% of his after-tax earnings to alcohol sales tax at Hooligan’s. The other 60% goes to Taco Tuesdays and the alcohol itself.

He does not pay taxes because he does not earn income. If he did he would know exactly what his tax bracket is. If you have a well-paying job you're probably in either the 24% or 32% federal tax brackets, and you probably pay 5% state tax in Wisconsin. The 32% bracket is above $165k currently, and that is after up to $19.5k in pre-tax 401k contributions. So he is claiming that he makes over $185k/year, and he's been making the equivalent of that for almost 15 years. Yet he thinks $17k is an enormous sum of money and lives in a shitty duplex next to the projects.

By the way, these brackets are marginal rates. So even if you are in the 32% bracket, you're not paying 32% of your income in taxes, only for the amount in excess of $165k. Again, this is the sort of thing a retard who does not work would think.

It really can't be overstated how much of an absolute retard this guy is. The marginal rates only apply to income in excess of the income bracket associated with that rate. Anyone who pays taxes would know this. Just look at your tax forms.
You would have to make such an insane amount of money to actually pay that much in taxes. Professional athletes and elite level engineers who makes millions per year probably pay 40% in taxes. The latter would probably be smart enough to get their company to compensate them in a way that reduces or defers their tax liability.

If he is putting that much into his taxes each year, he's just basically putting it in savings held by the IRS until he files a tax return, at which he probably gets 3/4ths of it back. Considering he's married filing jointly he gets at boost in his and nik's deductions.

When I had a higher paid job (I gave up money for comfort working at home) - we’d be given extremely high end watches at Christmas to avoid tax instead of cash bonuses. You can either just keep them and they’re cool or sell them for cash etc.
