My kind of FAWKIN month! Though sadly, I booked our bands break before the month started, lotta tourin' going on now. Sniff

But, still, I'll be home for Halloween this year, and on that day, it'll be a Vincent Price Marathon.

Oh yes, lambchops, while my brain is always enamored by the shadowy works of the late great Val Lewton, my horrific heart will always go for the crazy, campy and unnerving Vincent Price. For such a classically trained actor, horror films were in his blood. He always played the roles with just the right weight of ham to it.

From "The Last Man on Earth", to "Masque of the Red Death", to " Theater of Blood", and the Schlocktoberfest known as "House on Haunted Hill", this mincing little creepy bastard is the memories of my childhood. It wasn't often my local channels Shock Theater would show the classy Universal monsters, but they showed the low budget William Castle films quite often. Can't even count how many times I watched The Tingler. And I'll never forgetp seeing The Poe Cycle by Corman in my young teens.

What do you watch, fellas? Do you indulge your basest desires and watch nothing but slasher cinema? Or do you watch "It's The Great Pumpkin, Charlie Brown" on a loop like a psychopath?

also, "Giallo" ISN'T horror.....it's fagslop for dada-niggas

stop that

Hate Giallo. I'm sure that's not a popular opinion, but slashers and their kissing cousins can get fucked, frankly.

The proto-slashers had style and imagination to them, specifically Leopard Man and Psycho (Dementia 13 can get an honourable mention, but only the recent directors cut). The first true slasher, Halloween, is such a slow-burn bit of suspenseful genius that it transcends every entry in the genre after it. It built upon it's forefathers, taking all the right lessons from them.

But once the 80's hit, with Friday the 13th specifically, it all went to gore effects and shock value. That bores the fuck out of me. To me, there's no difference in quality from a random Jason movie than there is to Vinegar Syndrome shit like "L.A. AIDS Jabber" (no, I don't own that one).

I think that's why I ended up liking Steve Blum's "Totally Killer ", it sends up all the slasher tropes with a Back to the Future twist, and takes the piss out of it. I hadn't been that impressed with a slasher film since Wes Craven's first "Scream".

I played that enemy randomizer you posted a while back and faced off against sharks in a hallway. Hilarious and scary.
Should try the door randomizer too. Even just the item randomizer is a blast. They have it for RE2 and RE3 if you download the sourcenext version for PC.
