Unfortunately the reunion swallowed up two other viable bands: Blackfoot and The Outlaws. As offensive as the having no Ronnie Van Zant at first and keeping downward sliding losing members/etc that has bothered tons of their fans, it really was a shame having nowhere to go to hear those songs anymore. They really should have toured as Lynyrd The Black Outlaw and played songs from all three bands. "Green Grass and High Tides" is certainly in the top 20 songs of all time and there's it the best version of "Ghost Riders in the Sky"

I may be wrong (and too lazy to fact check), but IIRC, Ricky was in Skynyrd, pre-"Pronounced", and by the time be got back to Skynyrd, he wasn't on great terms with the other guys in Blackfoot, no?

But, yeah - GGaHT is a top-shelf, all-time song, and "One More Time" is prob. Skynyrd's best. Oh, and the riff for "Workin' for the MCA".

Yeah he was in before 'Pronounced' and I don't know anything about the minutia of Blackfoot specifically but I was always under the impression he was basically Blackfoot, but I could be wrong. Skynyrd is still doing dates with just him and Johnny VanZant. As far as I know Johnny doesn't do any interviews, just Medlocke who runs around going "I swear, Gary Rossington said I should keep at it, even though the 2019 tour was supposed to be the last one!"
Just skimmed their Wikipediar and there were apparently some non Medlocke lineups in the 2000s which to me is like a non Hughie Thomasson Outlaws, who apparently also toured without him for a bit.

One More Time is fucking amazing but "Junkie" and "Was I Right Or Wrong" are my favorite Skynyrd shit.

Holy shit. Pretty sure that I'd never heard Junkie, so I found a demo on Spotify when doing some yard work. It's... interesting. Sounds more like"here are our influences"-ish. Getting notes of Sabbath (the swing of the rhythm section, not doom...), Hendrix Experience and, I dunno... Cream? Or I was in the sun too fucking long. Good stuff. Gonna check out the rest of the ones I don't know.

Edit: and wow, for Right or Wrong, once it kicks in you can hear parts they cannibalized for some of the hits, down to the tone. Thanks all for the push to go down the LS rabbit hole again.

For sure brotherman. Yeah the early stuff definitely has some Creaminess to it to me. Even almost psychedelic. Great yard work music for sure. Right or Wrong has the entire riff to Gimme Three Steps in it, which makes it even more creepy to me. Was just listening to these on a road trip yesterday, I love it a ton.
