I played a lot in high school, probably because I wasn't cool enough to get invited to parties. This was in the mid-2000s, right around the height of the poker craze. I mostly played with other nerds and fellow cross country/long distance runners. I wasn't terrible, but I wasn't great. I've barely played since college, though.

I’m really hoping that they bring back online poker.

I was in high school when poker took off huge in that 2000s era and played with my friends in high school / college since that was popular. I was talking to some of the guys recently (late 30s to early 40s) who wanted to do a poker night and wondered if younger people even play poker since that was kinda done by the early 2010s. I know the casinos in AC and Vegas have had to scale back or remove their poker rooms due to fading in popularity.

Do younger people (18 to 25) even play anything with cards? I remember card drinking games in HS & College but wonder if that’s something that’s also faded.

We played kings cup in high school and college, fun times! I’m just wondering if the younger people still play drinking card games since cards seem to have fallen out of popularity. Like I said a lot of casinos have had to scale back or close their poker rooms since the Texas hold ‘em crazy stopped about a decade ago.

I once paid for my textbooks for a semester by playing Acey Ducey. King-2, pot it. I might have a gambling problem.

My cousins kids are getting close to seniors in high school / college freshman’s so next time I’ll see them I’ll have to ask if people their age still play drinking card games. Beer pong is obviously still popular but I’m just wondering if card games seem “ancient” to younger people.

I suck at beer pong.
That game seems like it will never go away. When I was in college we had a good size piece of wood for a beer pong table we got from Home Depot that had tons of signatures on it from friends and people that partied at our place (we did a kegger pretty much every Friday) which I wish I still had just as a memory type piece.

A million dollar idea I can’t believe I didn’t think off was to be the guy to come up with the idea to sell ping pong balls WITH red solo cups.

It’s pretty much impossible to make a living grinding online poker now with all the bots and hud’s everyone is a robot playing GTO strategy. I have a friend who plays 2/5 live and makes a decent living, but he has to grind against the regs all day to make like 60k a year and that’s with vegas expenses where all the action is. He doesn’t need the money either he bought ethereum back in like 2016.

Itsstill fun to play saturday nights when I’m drunk at home, i just 4 table .50/1 omaha and wait for an acehigh flush draw or topset top kicker. But other than that it kinda sucks now. Live is really slow too unless everyone’s drunk because of all the nits.
Use more poker terminology, stupid.

ya gotta play with big enough buy ins that it's interesting without being too much that you'll be upset if you lose it all

Last time I played it was a chose how much you start with, min $50. I only did the min while everyone else did more so I was already at a disadvantage, but I was lucky enough that I had people try to buy the pot over me while I had the better hands, left with +70

My little brother's friend is the absolute worst poker player in existence. He tries to bet too much, even with a really shit hand, then exclaims "I can't fold now look how much I put in" essentially telling the other person to raise even more cause he's too dumb to fold a bad hand, that happened like 3 times that night where he'd go all-in, lose, and buy-back in to do it again.

I was looking for an image of a compound poker party and found this. I can only imagine what it says about the people sitting at this table
