Jr's story is funnier. They tried to give him dad's gimmick but he had zero charisma and couldn't get it over. So they had him hang out with fans in the parking lot before the show. Apparently Ted Sr and brother Brett both have money tied up in this too. Ted Jr got $2.8m so he was the headline but Ted Sr got 1.8m and Brett got 800K.

I'm sorry, the Honkey Tonk Man has to be one of the worst gimmicks that had success in wrestling. Maybe down South he was a draw, but he fucking stunk as a heel or face. It's hard to take anything he has to say seriously- he should thank God that Vince saw something in him to put him over on wrestlers who had better mic skills and wrestling skills.

Honkys ability to remain relevant by telling old stories in an entertaining way is proof enough of his mic skill. His character was excellent, it provoked millions of people either into a rage or getting their Ribs. He also took part in some of the most brutal hardcore shit of the golden age when he was a serious rassler. Thank yuh very much. You been a beautiful audience.
