Obviously , theses Concept albums are really self indulgent for the most part, but there are some good ones.

Jesus Christ Superstar is probably one of my favourite albums.
Tuomas Holopainen did one based on Don Rosa's Life and Times of Scrooge McDuck taht was pretty great. Especially if you've read Don Rosa's comics over and over like I have.

All albums should have a theme, either lyrically or musically. Anything else is lazy.

the wall is far superior to dark side of the moon, the ladder of which being their most overrated album. as for concept albums I enjoy, I'm quite keen on kendrick lamar's good kid, m.a.a.d city. single handedly reinvigorated conceptual hip-hop and brought conscious rap back to the mainstream... up until drill took off and drug the genre right back to the lowest common denominator

That’s the only Kendrick album that I like but I don’t consider that a concept album. It’s just a rap album with skits. I also don’t really know what a concept album is. DMX and Eminem had skits.
