As soon as you stopped being able to hit a receiver that was about to make a 20 yard catch and literally had to let him catch it, the entire sport just became a joke. I dont see how anyone can defend that rule making any sense.
I’ll see a clip of a team getting all hype and fired up before taking the field and Im just like, you guys realize you cant even hit anyone right? What are you getting all excited about? Shit is fucking gay and retarded.
That said, I do the fawkin fantasy thing, put in parlays and still enjoy the gambling aspect of a football Sunday, but I have zero interest in the game anymore

People see the stats QBs put up back in the 60s through the late 90s and they think wow, those guys really sucked compared to the QBs of today, but they don't understand how much more physical and difficult it was back then when DBs had way more leeway and you could pummel the living hell out of QBs. Go watch one of those NFL "Greatest Hits" videos from the 1980s and you'll see nothing but plays that would be wildly illegal today, all set to goofy music and car crash sound effects. QBs took a vicious beating and WRs literally risked their lives going over the middle, as a DB might decapitate you.

You can watch one of those old videos and see hit after hit on QBs who'd already thrown a pass, hits where they just got absolutely flattened. Nowadays hits like that would be the lead story on the evening news, but they used to be routine. And it's so funny to see how the NFL used to use those hits as highlight reels, just clip after clip of guys getting completely obliterated. You just don't see those vicious animalistic defensive stars anymore, like Butkus, Jack Lambert, LT, Lott, Atwater, Tatum and etc.

Yea it was that tough voice Dan used, it scared me in ways that watching my father pistol whip and put guns in deadbeats mouths didn't, really shook me up. The good news I managed to find decent gabagool and freesh mutz in rural ontario to eat to calm me down. I'm just glad I didn't sound like that one faggot who called in and was all out of cadence like a 3rd grader giving a report.

I used to work for one of the major sports leagues. They would do literally anything to get more TV breaks or advertisements. Including telling coaches and players to stall and waste time. Referees to waste time. And so on. So that every single play could have a sponsored replay. They also spent almost every other second during meetings discussing how to plaster corporate logos on literally every possible surface. Longer games means more advertising and more drinks sold at the stadium.
NASCAR used to be mocked for plastering logos all over the cars. Now look at the UFC octagon floor. Or the inside of pretty much any modern stadium. Or watch any sports broadcast and literally everything has a sponsor. "This inning in sponsored by blah blah". "This replay is sponsored".

In the 2000s is when they really started monkeying with the rules to attract more casual fans. Anything before that fucking rules and is like a different sport compared to the faggotry of today's NFL.

The championship structure they had was so pure. Most points at the end of the season is champ. Purrriod. Take a look at their "playoffs" structure. I think they literally got it off a fucking reddit page or something.

The last time I will ever believe the NFL wasn't fixed was when the Giants ruined the Patriots perfect season.
Compare that to this year's Super Bowl. The LA Rams won their first year in their new stadium only 5 years after moving to LA (largest or second largest TV market that doesn't fucking care because everybody's a transplant and a fan of another team) supposedly by purchasing a bunch of free agents, but look those nonstop penalties that resulted in their last TD. (They benefited from a similar blown call against the Saints in the NFC Championship game 2 years earlier, but the Patriots beat them in the Super Bowl.)
Bet against the Rams at your own risk. The powers that be want that to be the cool celebrity Tiktok team and you can't do that going Owen Seventeen.

I hate the NFL, I used to be all in too, but the game got over regulated, the QB too protected and they dominated the male audience so they started catering to the female population by adding pink shirts, faggy half time shows and commercials showing women being interested in the big game. They had a whole month where they all had to wear pink for titty cancer (with a sham charity) how many players have been affected by titty cancer? Wouldn't it make more sense to do ball or prostate cancer? You can't sell to women that way though. Then fantasy became the norm and the coverage of a shit game became even shitter. I watch the rival games and the super bowl but I couldn't give less of a shit for an over produced over regulated product filled with numb skull criminals
