The point of the text is that you can’t know.


The entire book/movie is a metaphor for being a father. Cormac wrote it to express his own feelings about his kid.

At some point you no longer can protect your child and you have to entrust them to the world. A world that can be sick, cruel, and violent… but maybe also a world where hope can exist. Remember the man with the shopping cart and the child’s empathy? Also Note that the other father has a daughter around the age of the boy.

Fantastic fucking book.

The movie was fantastic. I'll always remember a quote about the book "It's a love letter to his son". Awesome.
