I never watch this shit but they literally just did a joke about how roast beef can't possibly as cheap as Arby's sells it.
That's weird. I was kind of talking about the same thing with my gf, but it was about Jack in the Box's 2 for .99 cents tacos. They were the same damn price over 27 years ago. I understand about loss leaders and they're meant to get foot traffic in to purchase higher margin items, but still, they have to be losing 20 cents or more on every one they sell.

It costs ~14 cents to make each JITB taco. The shell and "meat-like substance" cost 4 cents apiece, the cheese and paper bag cost 2 cents apiece, and the lettuce and hot sauce are under a cent.

A lot of those "value menu" items are usually very low-grade ingredients. I'll still greedily shove Taco Bell shit down my throat though.

Is labor, overhead, storage and transportation included? A few years back, McDonalds and Burger King franchisees were going to revolt over their dollar menus as they were losing a shit load of money on them and people weren't buying high margin items like drinks & fries.

Nah but it all makes sense in the long run when you account for all other business. Soda is the big moneymaker for fast food places, that syrup shit is incredibly cheap and fatties are brainwashed to order it with fast food.

Plus, all the places near me have increased prices with inflation. JITB tacos are $1.29, a McChicken is like $2.19.

Where I live, they're. 99 cents and $1.49, respectively. The fast food joints starting pay is now $14-$15 an hour. Automation is coming soon.

It's already by me. If you go in you order on a screen. I actually like it because you can customize your order easily without explaining to some half a tard what you want for 10 minutes only for them to screw it up. Plus you know how hard it was for them to give you the correct change if you paid by cash even though the change came out already counted
