I can guess major and minor chords but songs with maj9 or suspended2 or dim4, that kind of weird chords is beyond me.

All sorts of weird chord progressions going on in Steely Dan songs. I guess it's a jazz thing when you add sevenths and the like to standard chords. I don't have the music education to really explain what's happening with the right terminology. Maybe a brotherman could enlighten me...

same tbh, the toughest artist i found with weird chords in pop music was Michael Jackson. Whoever produced/wrote his songs, were geniuses.

i don't even try with jazz or rock music.

yes, the bulk of it i learned back in HS while playing guitar. My ear has definitively become sharper since then but nowhere close to prof music producers.
When I said like 4 week, that's hard studying, sitting down and spending hours a day playing back chords and memorizing them

Seventh means seven whole notes up from the root note. So if you're playing an E chord, you'd toss in a D note to make it a seventh. It makes a gay jazzy sound. That Steely Dan song has a lot of polychords too (combos of two chords). You probably knew this pretty much but I wanted to mansplain like a fag.

WWAWD Time Signatures? If I hear weird switching in a song I try to figure it out. Most people I feel are completely unaware.
