It's a tough one, man...

On the one hand, American state flags are incredibly boring. This is intentional - since the revolution, most states with the exception of Maryland and a few others rejected incorporating heraldry into their flag designs in order to represent a break from the Old World's traditions. An unfortunate consequence of this is the fact that most states flags are basically some boring ass blue background with the state seal in the middle.

On the other hand, this flag is unoriginal garbage that looks like it was shit out by some soulless focus group, and the resemblance to the Somali flag is undeniable. It also mirrors a lot of new flag designs that cities have adopted in recent years.

In good news, some people are starting to fight back against all this change.

Where I live, within like a week of George Floyd, the school board changed a bunch of names of schools. I was pissed at the time and told my friends "Don't ever let anyone tell you government works slow. They're fast when they want to be fast, like this shit and putting up toll roads."

But this happened in Virginia. A tiny win, but a win I will savor. 5-1 vote, too.

Putting geographic representations in flags, especially state flags, is silly because most states don't have anything unique. Oh hey, Minnesota has lakes and snow.

The state seal over blue is boring, but those were the flags state regiments made when they fought the Civil War. They have actual history.

But also think the Red Ensign is a better flag that a fucking leaf because it was the flag Canada fought WWII under.
