WWAW Belichick giving UNC a 400 page manifesto of demands?

I don't think anyone outside the orbit of MA sports talk radio cares, I haven't even seen coverage on ESPN of his shenanigans. The NFL is less interesting w/o Bill but he made his bed by being a dink for so long.

I see it just as 'here's what I need to succeed here, if you're cool with that then let's go'. Crazy but reasonable.

I don't think you understand the extent of his demands.

Forgive me for not going into detail.

In essence, he - in so many words - has demanded the state of North Carolina rewrite the charter for their university effectively turning it from an institute of higher learning into a football factory all in the span of 3-4 months before upcoming spring practices. They would have to start firing both academic staff and campus personnel immediately in order to make financial space for the sheer number of football recruiters he's demanding. They would need to overhaul the payroll of the entire undergraduate, graduate, athletic, research, and alumni departments. They would have to rebuild and then build from scratch not only entire facilities but sections of the campus - this alone would require real estate deals 2-3 years in the making. And we're just getting started.

My buddy from high school football and I have been texting about this, and he said, "Well what if Jordan came in and decided he wanted UNC to be a football powerhouse? Isn't that like what Belichick is doing?"

I said, "No, stupid. If Jordan wanted that, he'd have to front the money himself just like the Nike guy did at Oregon. Bill isn't offering to do that, number 1.
Number 2, even IF Jordan decided to drop a cool BILLION dollars on turning UNC into the next Texas football factory, there's no plausible way for him to spend that money in 4 months. It will take decades to rebuild the athletic facilities - turn the stadium from 63k seats to 83k seats - build a new indoor practice field - build new luxury boxes - outfit the stadium with LED lights - etc. That's a DECADE long project alone.

I want to make clear that I don't think Belichick is crazy for having demands - I think he's crazy for what his demands are. And his agent has already said he's not willing to negotiate on a single point - so what exactly was the point? Bill went to Wesleyan for economics, he's not stupid. He knows none of this is feasible at all.

None of it. That's the 'crazy' I mentioned. I don't think you follow.

I do follow.

If you gave ME everything Belichick is demanding, well I could run a successful program. Make no mistake, I could.
- pay other people to recruit
- pay other people to coach
- pay for the best facilities in the country
- update the stadium
- get better TV deal

Yeah. I could project manage that to fruition.

So, if Belichick's entire leverage fulcrum is "this is what I need to succeed" when that's what literally any schmuck off the street would need to succeed than what leverage does he really have?

It is crazy and unreasonable. Where in this formula does Bill's expertise or coaching experience come into play? Where does he add value when all the value has already been provided by the school? What exactly does he bring to the table in this negotiation? What does he expect to be held accountable for when everything has been done for him?

This - THIS - is a joke, right? I've fallen for an obvious joke.

His name. That's it. Everyone knows that's the case and he's laid out what he wants. It's reasonable to lay out demands. Even if the demands are insane (and they are).

I may be obtuse here but I think this is a ploy to get his name in the papers. He knows the trustees, alumni, administration, and faculty will riot when they read this.
He's effectively made it so he CAN'T get hired at UNC.

But it lets people know he's open to work. It's like a LinkedIn announcement, but from the most ego-maniacal coach in the history of football.

Was he actually looking for them to do all that stuff in months or just commit to doing it all over time? Maybe he just wants to be the architect of what he thinks will eventually be a powerhouse.

I do wonder what the whole point is. UNC would be retarded to even consider it.

I guess he doesn't know what to do with his time or something.

I mean he's 72 and has to date been deadset on breaking Don Shula's NFL wins record. I don't see a full commitment to NCCAF at this point in this man's life.

I think he's using this as a chance to hype himself up as a sought-after hire, when nobody even interviewed him last year. I think he's done in the NFL after he ran off Brady and then failed horribly without him.

I thought he hated Don Shula and was dead-set on breaking his career victories record. Are pro teams just not interested in hiring him?

The faces of a rich old man fucking a 20 year old, and a middle class 20 year old about to kill her husband.

She's so happy her smile is about to corrupt her whole face.
