It depends on the department and how much available funding they have. The ecoboost explorers kinda suck ass imo, and they regularly get passed by any car with a top speed of 140+. My town still mostly uses the 5.7 chargers, with a few crown Vics left. Some big cities have scat pack and even hellcat pursuit vehicles to make catching exotic cars easier.

In Virginia they're almost all faggy little SUVs. For a while they had the big Dodge Chargers and they were PFG.

I don’t like when they have the black on black or gray on gray logos. They technically have to have “police” on it but the color scheme doesn’t have to pop out.

Some state police forces have/had special highway pursuit cars, like this 2002 CHP Camaro. They also take these out for public appearances.

There’s quite a variety these days.
In my lifetime I remember growing up with the Crown Vics, then Philly went to the Chevy Impala and ran those into the fucking ground. Entire districts rocking ‘06 Impalas well into the late 2010s. Now you see a lot of Tauruses, Durangos, and Chargers

I once saw a town in California with Jeep Wrangler cruisers and thought that was pretty cool

I believe both Ford and Chevy have pivoted to SUV only production for police. I think Dodge is phasing out the charger model as well. In the next 5-10 years all police vehicles will be electric SUVs.

For the longest the police departments buying 4 door sedans was huge business for Chevy (Impala) Dodge (Charger) and Ford (Tarus, 500) but I’ve noticed many departments have switched to SUV’s (Suburrban, Explorer, Durango) and those sedans are now being discontinued as the auto business moves towards SUV and cross over SUV which is now the majority of auto sales. Charger I think is done after 2024 which was a very popular police car.

There are pick up truck cop cars too.
I watch on patrol live and the Arkansas police Sarge has a charger super bee cop car and was doing a 157mph pursuit with it!
I hate that car companies are stopping sedan production entirely
