Would you lie about a relative dying for a paid week off of work if you knew that you couldn’t get caught?

I watched my old boss coldly shut down this fat idiot who asked for a day off to go to his cousin's funeral. The guy whined about it on every break and I was finally like "Quit. Prepare a 'fuck you' speech too because you're not getting a reference." All he said was something like "My family means more to me than this place. Fuck you, Dave." and he left lol. The boss was like "Oh thank God." That fag's dad killed himself shortly before that and every time the guy would do something retarded (frequently) the boss would be like "No wonder his old man punched out. Imagine that's your son."

Just make sure you don't make the same death twice. We had someone get called out recently by saying he needed the day off for his dad's birthday, then used the same excuse 3 months later. Someone said "how many fathers do you have?" and he got super embarrassed and admitted to fibbing.

Do Americans not have paid leave?
Just looked up my country:
"Employees are entitled to 25 work days of annual leave.[14] Up to five of those days can be saved for another year, for up to five years, enabling an employee to have a 10 week paid annual leave every five years.[173] Sweden has 11 statutory holidays which are paid for if they fall on Monday-Friday. In addition, there are three "eves" (Midsummer Eve, Christmas Eve and New Year's Eve) that are treated as de facto holidays by most employers and are paid for if they fall on Monday-Friday. State employees are entitled to 28 vacation days a year until the year they turn 29, 31 days from the year they turn 30, and 35 days from the year they turn 40.[174]"

I get paid days off but what if I need to save them for something important like a funeral?
