I wanted to watch it because of John C Reilly. Just came across like it was going to make him look faggy and I didn’t want to hate him. If a brotherman is recommending it I’ll have to watch it.

It's super fictionalized. Everyone portrayed says it's full of made up stuff that never remotely happened. You're better off watching actual interviews with Lakers (and Celtics) players from that era.

There is a good HBO sports documentary from 15 years ago chronicaling the Lakers vs Celtics rivalry. It’s better than this horse shit.

I’m enjoying it also. Casting is spot on and I don’t care if it’s a fictionalization. It serves up some good ribs here and there too.

I'm not a big basketball fan and I really don't like Adam McKay's stuff other than The Big Short, but I'm a big fan of John C. Reilly so I'm sort of interested in checking it out. Anyone watch it yet?

Yeah, I'm sure it's not factually accurate. From what little I know, Johnson and Bird were pretty good friends early on despite team rivalries. But like I said, I don't care or have anything invested in real team beefs. Just watch it for the entertainment value.

I thought it would suck but I'm up to the most recent episode and it's fucking great. Really funny. The Magic love-interest storyline is probably the worst part. I thought it would just be a bunch of Hollywood cunts enjoying the smell of their own farts after reading about the 'second-worst Donald of the 80s' quip but I was definitely wrong and that's the only example of some lame contemporary shit they tried to shoehorn in. The characters and acting are really good. Jerry West's character is especially funny. Would love to see a series similar to this about the second three-peat Bulls or one of the 90s/00s Manchester United squads.
