Why did Google remove image search and replace it with garbage "Google Lens"

Why remove something that works perfectly fine to replace it with something that is absolute dog shit? "Upgrade"? More like downgrade. Do they not understand the definition of the word?

What was the thought process behind it? There's no excuse. Just another example of how out-of-touch and half-baked the google chrome developers are, they take a year to roll out broken software and deactivate what worked.

IMO the real reason is to make searching and archiving images harder as they vault/demo the internet.

I work in IT for a huge organization and it's like there's been only 1 or 2 people over the various teams I've worked in that have actually understood computers. The new software developer they hired doesn't even know what pinging is.

I'm stuck using an android phone because I refuse to buy an iPhone for the privilege of them telling me how to use my phone, but that's another story. I've tried to cut out as much Google as I possibly can, I no longer use them for searching, I don't use Chrome and I use an alternate YouTube app on my phone. There are so many good competitors out there now, that Google isn't needed anymore, they are just a habit now

Like when Jewgle took over JewTube & beyond forcing people onto their failed pile of shit "Google+", did nothing more than rearrange & break the interface every other month just after you got used to the previous piece of shit incarnation.

I'm also pleased that everything is oriented for phones above everything these days. It's really useful on a desktop with a large widescreen monitor to have every page be a skinny vertical strip in the middle with blinding empty white space everywhere else .
