Where did young people get the idea that doing anything you don’t necessarily wanna do = slavery?

Is this like one of those new-age faggot opinions? I see it picking up steam too — a bunch of burnouts claiming you’re a slave if you have to work a job, pay taxes, or wipe your own ass, etc.

If you can manage to set your life up in a way where you answer to no one - more power to you, but I don’t believe someone is a slave because they work 9-5 and aren’t being paid $100,000/year.

I’m just a simple white-trash loser, so maybe I’m off base.

I wonder how these kinds of people reacted to certain video games growing up that involved a cash system

Like when I first played Pokemon, if you lost a battle with another trainer you'd wake up in a hospital and they'd take a chunk of your money. From then on I didn't spend any of my money on anything but the spare pokeballs I'd have to eventually use to catch other pokemon, because I was scared I might lose too much money and not have enough to continue catching more pokemon.
Yes, I would ride my bike all the way back to a PokeCenter just to heal my guys and then ride all the way back to where I was and continue. I was an adult when I realized you were supposed to be buying the other shit the entire game.
I was 5 when I became frugal, in a game for children
