Narcissists are notoriously good at keeping their woman in an awful relationship that she feels she can't leave. They often use threats of suicide/self-harm, or threats against her, and are also good at getting their woman to second-guess themselves and blame themselves for problems caused by the narcissist. Usually it takes an intervention of sorts by the woman's friends or family to get her to realize that she needs to leave, and to give her the confidence to do so. Even then many stay. Adrienne obviously has a much stronger personality than Niki. I think Niki doesn't have any friends, and her family pretty much wrote her off, so she will probably stick around.
