Is the king James study bible a good one to get into the Bible ? Or are there better ones?

The one which I read fully (well, almost) is NIV.

I have it on kindle because it’s just convenient, I have several physical copies in various translations.

NIV is very readable, which is the most important thing imo. At least to begin with.

My chick his they cool leather bound bible she got on amazon, has some cool illustrations in it too! If you don't like reading old english you can get a children's bible.

Just read the NIV New Testament in full, think about it obviously but just finish it, that’s where you should start. Then read the Old Testament and then worry about studying it, there’s a billion companion study books, YouTube etc. I’ve started a Bible study group (nobody will believe me so I don’t talk about it) and we have a growing group of like minded guys my age.

The Lord is opening the eyes of many in this degenerate troubling time. Every one of us started as athiests and turned to Christ during Covid.

Yea most of my “eye openers” happened during the military. With covid, political insanity, and people wanting more government… something is going on. Also, seeing legit walking dead people right out my bed room window is another good sign.

Also, the whole bashing of Jesus being allowed is also really telling.

Looking back at this, that was another eye opener. I think the only funny “bash” on Jesus I have ever seen was the memes from like 20 years ago with Jesus with laser eyes. Or Jesus bugging people in the bank. Even though those weren’t really mean spirited or bashing him really.

That's one thing that bothered me about American evangelicals. They believe in absolute biblicism, bible is the word of God, not a one of them studies the languages it was written in or bothers with more than one translation. The translator isn't god, stupid.

It all must happen, I know this to be true, the craziest shit ever is when you read the Bible and realise how rational and direct it is at times, it tells you bluntly and simply what is to come and why and what to do. (This is why I know @JebJoh and his ilk haven’t read it, because they still think what they’ve been told about it, that it’s all nonsense rambling and irrational)

My battle is not being angry and letting go.

The Catena app is pretty cool. Based on the septuagint, has all the books that the Protestants leave out of their bibles plus commentaries from the church fathers. If you want a hardcover get the Orthodox Study Bible.
