Digital-to-analog converter. Converts a digital audio signal into an analog one so that you can play the sound over headphones or speakers.
I'm not really an audiophile so I use a cheap Sound BlasterX G6 to power my 80 OHM headphones (Byerdynamic DT 770 Pro). Picked up a DAC because my PC motherboard wasn't good enough to deal with 80 OHMs that well, headphones weren't loud enough for my liking.
