It kind of ruled. But barely so. Not a good movie by any means. TV aesthetic, dull first half. But the goofiness in the second half made it very fun.

I liked that movie a lot when I was a kid. Another good Bill Paxton movie is A Simple Plan.

I liked A Simple Plan much better. He was a very good actor, very versatile. I might re-watch Near Dark soon.

Yeah, it was okay. I'd been told really good things, and I found it to be strictly average. Nothing I'd watch again. I should watch A Simple Plan, I've never seen it.

A Simple Plan is great.
Bill Paxton told a story about making Frailty. He was trying to raise money to get it made and went to his old pal Tom Hanks, offering him an exec producer credit and back end for investing in it. Hanks said let me read the script.
He got back to Paxton a couple of days later and said "I like it Bill, but I'm going to pass." Paxton asked him why. "It's just not bankable" was Hanks's reply. Of course, he was right.
Paxton finished the anecdote with "he's a smart one that Hanks."
