Agreed. The book stuff was awesome. When they ran out of material, the (((showrunners))) ruined it.No, it was awesome until they ran out of book material. Its a testament to how shitty it ended when the most popular show in recent history wasn't talked about again days after it ended, and hasn't been in the years since.
I never understood why people cared. Killing them off was the only option. Were they supposed to hang out with Ripley and be a little makeshift family going on wacky space adventures?I still get a laugh out of how offended people were that Hicks and Newt were killed off screen before Alien 3.
People used to bug me to watch it. I'd decline because I'm not big on fantasy. I liked LotR back in the day because of how epic it was to watch (before Marvel overloaded society with multiple CGI fight fests a year). No, it was awesome until they ran out of book material. No, but it did throw the events of one of the better sequels of all time completely out the window. Plus, Ripley's arc up to that point was partly about rebuilding meaningful relationships and trust in others. The first 2 movies are thought-provoking science fiction classics. To just copy/paste Ripley into another environment with Aliens without anything clever to say cheapened a franchise that was more than a cut above other action films.I never understood why people cared. The first was. The second was a typical action movie that just played off all the obvious aspects of the first movie but by making them bigger rather than thought-provoking. I'm not saying it wasn't a good movie, but Alien to Alien3 would be more cohesive than Alien to Aliens to Alien3.The first 2 movies are thought-provoking science fiction classics.
