The least believable part of the show was how devastated Vic was by her leaving. He was pulling 6s-8s weekly on the job but upset that this gnome woman took off.

The point was that her leaving meant she had control over the situation and marriage. Not him. Also it disrupted his image in the eyes of the other cops. Same reason Tony flips out on Carmela leaving him but literally just laughs off the myriad of suicides his girlfriend's go through. Divorce makes you look weak. Especially with children. You keep your wife in line and have a bunch of girlfriends. And you keep your family guy image in the community as well.
Pretty much every show like Sopranos had the main character married and go through some marriage troubles related to work. Dexter, Breaking Bad, Boardwalk Empire, Shield, Ozark. Breaking Bad literally cast a woman with the same features as Carmela and even had her recreate the cringe inducing Marilyn Monroe birthday song from In Camelot.

I didn't make it through more than halfway through season 1 of SOA. The Shield has its weaknesses but it's much better than 99% of shows out there.
