I think I posted this before. But on Bobby’s podcast they talked about how Jim stopped talking to them about 9 years ago. That Jim used to pretend we were all a team but now acts like none of the “team” exists. Colin wasn’t joking at all and they did not do any just playing shit.
He is truly a strange little creature. He has no personality or interests or any real relationships that don’t contribute to his “quirky” personality or furthering his career. A completely superficial person who’s only joy in life comes from getting fucked in the ass and taking pictures with people more famous than him. It’s truly bizarre. People like that exist but they’re not even close to famous.

He’s right, friendships between men should be the easiest thing in the world to maintain, but even back in the O&A days, these guys were all such over sensitive Marys they sounded like a bunch of sixteen year old girls. I bet Ant loves hearing him say how easy relationships should be when he hasn’t had a friendship or relationship where he’s not paying the person to be his friend or partner in over 10 years.

People find me to be a difficult friend at first - I'm quirky & kinda guarded, but once they get through that, people say 'I'd trust [my name] with my life'... & I always step-up to that.
Jimmy wants his friend group to be the other comics, he has no friends from childhood or anywhere else but couldn't even defend LouisCK who put him in a fuckin TV show, he isn't even a real friend to other comics.
Many comics are a bit weird but Jim puts extra layers there to stay alone; using his laptop to write while sat at the cellar (called-out by Colin), having Kenny as security. Him going on-tour is a waste of time; he worries more about having a feather pillow & craigslist trannys rather than enjoying the company of new people.
His parents really fucked him up by letting him be so entitled; he had special permission to wear a hat at school because he 'didn't like his cowlicks', indulging his rehab bullshit like he had a real problem, etc. Everything must go his way or he's angry at everything, like when porn star guests wouldn't get naked enough & he'd blow his top.

They had nothing in common outside of radio and comedy though. They could all mesh together on the show. But off the air guys like Opie don't really want to go to Brazil to put dildos into teenagers for roof shingles. And a lot of the comics were sober or gambling addicts and would never hang with Anthony during his Atlantic City binges either. The comics used to goof on Anthony's karaoke basement parties to his face. Even Jimmy said on air a few times that Anthony's house was awful outside of the big parties and hanging with him was a disaster.
But why did they have to be friends at all? Most guys on professional sports teams are not friends. You play your game, travel with the team, for most days of the year for many sports. Then spend your off season with your family. You don't invite the batboys or tire changers and the coaches and half the team to your house the entire year. Imagine spending the 162 baseball season with the team then having them around your house the entire off season.
The big problem with O&A was that their inability to be friends off air ended up bleeding into the entire show basically. The whole "don't shit where you eat" idea is perfectly shown on O&A. Where Opie is dating Rick's sister and living with Anthony's mother-in-law. Anthony is basically recruiting interns to live in his home like Danny. Norton is "dating" an intern. This stuff causes all sorts of problems because now you have two relationships to deal with. The personal one and the business one. And if one goes bad the other follows immediately.
If you invite your coworkers over to your wedding or whatever you would expect your closet business associates to show up. Or something like your father's funeral. Anything along those lines. By the end of the show they were basically not even attending stuff like that. Skipping Steve C's funeral or Opie's wedding or whatever. To go gamble or drink? And be a passive aggressive bitch or a loser. It was the most pathetic effeminate behavior. Like Anthony trashing FH Riley's for no reason just because of how much of a lowlife he was. Human garbage.
Imagine if Opie just went on twitter during the height of the show and started shitting all over Norton's standup career. And telling people not to support Norton's books or comedy shows. Then texting other people in the studio "that cunt won't even look at me". Once they all hated each other off the air the anger made its way into the studio. Then they just hated each other period.
His perspective on relationships both professionally and personally are rooted in permanent immaturity. Showing up late to work, hungover or drunk, never attending meetings with the bosses, drugging himself during contract negotiations, sabotaging Opie repeatedly "the cunt won't look at me". And his personal relationships are basically all 'sugar daddy' or flat out prostitution or whatever happened with Sue Lightning. Or trying to beat his girlfriend to death and her hiding in terror while trying to dial 911 from a tablet PC.
One thing the US military gets right is trying to stop socializing and fraternization between groups like enlisted and officers and whatnot. Because it leads to all sorts of problems that are often permanently damaging. But at O&A the inmates ran the asylum.
