This scene in Breaking Bad was cartoonishly gay

IMO the entire last season was cartoonishly gay. The meth Nazis, who'd just scored tens of millions of dollars of free cash, risked everything by hunting down Jesse's girlfriend and murdering her right in front of her house, just to force Jesse to continue to teach Todd how to make better meth he could use to impress a girl. The logic behind it all was completely retarded. In real life, the head meth Nazi would have just killed everyone but Todd, and fled with all the money.

I think the issue with breaking bad is that it was originally conceived as a dark comedy, which is absolutely evident in the first series, but then everyone praised its more dramatic elements, leading the showrunners to turn an inherently comedic premise into a serious thriller. the show is very entertaining, but it's so far from being the high-art people praise it as

That version could have worked, since Cranston is a really great comic actor.

I bring this up on most of our regularly scheduled Breaking Bad/Better Call Saul bashing threads, but those shows relied so much on suspense and cliffhangers that can only work on the viewer once. The don't have the rewatch value of The Sopranos or The Wire because there is nothing you might learn on a second viewing that you missed the first time. The writers constantly glossed over or just skipped details about Walter White or Saul or anyone else because they don't know how to explain it. The worst example was in BCS when they did a time jump to go from Jimmy being Jimmy to Jimmy being Saul when the whole fucking point of the series was supposed to explain that very origin.

I thought it was going to be this one. They wander around like Michael Myers as they attempt to assassinate a DEA agent

"Too easy". Is it?
This scene is another Sopranos ripoff. When Tony fights the two niggers off in front of the newsstand with his orange juice in the first season. And then celebrates killing one and then crashes his car into a parked car like Phil Leotardo would a few seasons later.

It was also a much smaller show. Walt makes meth, sells it, gives his family the money, then dies. Not Walt gets cancer, becomes the head of an entire cartel, and wipes out other cartels and biker gangs, and becomes international fugitive.

Your comment made me realize that scene would've been so much better if he didn't say "No, too easy" and just walked away silently, so the audience is like "huh??" and then it shows him grabbing the axe and they're like "ohhh shiiiiiit".

And it would've been more in character for him since the twins never fucking talk.

Vince always pitched the show as "we want to turn Mr Chips into Scarface". Whoever the fuck Mr Chips is...

The show should have delved more into the fact that they literally sell life ruining drugs. But the only conflict in the show is that people get killed with guns in the business aspect of it. Jesses conflict is that they had to kill a kid to leave no witnesses but he has 0 moral qualms with cooking a product that is also sold to children.
