It’s one thing to like kids movies if you HAVE kids, lot of kids movies just annoy the parents but they put them on to keep the kid happy. Sometimes you have something like toy story that parents enjoy compared to Barney (growing up my mom said I couldn’t watch Barney because it was shit) but Pat watches these kids movies as an adult. Very suspicious if you ask me.

My youngest is 11 so I’m almost past having to watch some of that shit. But the only reason I’ve seen any of these movies is because I have kids. I never went out of my way to watch How to Train your Dragon. My kids wanted to watch it. Some of them are alright and have some gags for the parents. But yeah most of them are garbage for sure. At least you know from the standpoint of I’m an adult and I’m really not entertained by the content. It’s supposed to appeal to kids, not me anyway.

Some of the ones from my childhood I watch and I had my kids watch them and we enjoy those together. Things like The Sandlot, The Mighty Ducks trilogy, Little Giants, Rookie of the Year and Heavyweights.

Hook is one of his favourite movies. I put it on at Christmas for my kids, partly as an experiment. About an hour in my 7 year old said, "Dad, this is boring, can we play cards?" So we did. He's 5 or 6 years away from puberty and he's already more of a man than the Fat One.

I will never be able to wrap my head around adults in perpetual childhood. My lady loves sci fi, so I took her to the convention in town last weekend. It was just a bunch of grown ass adults buying and selling childrens toys. What the fuck do these dopes get out of action figures? Even when I was 10, I had more fun stuffing GI Joes with firecrackers and blowing them apart than I did playing with them.

On a side note, I got to meet Bob Camp, co-creator of Ren and Stimpy. He was just sitting at this booth - not one of the sign-my-shit photo op booths, just a typical table in the middle of all the other shit - totally ignored by everyone. Dude was cool af and seemed really thrilled to talk to someone who liked the show.

We also got to see Shatner bloviate about how great he is. No wonder the rest of the Star Trek cast hated him - the guy is full of himself.
