However, you shouldn't underestimate office politics. Ross Perot was a salesman for IBM, and wildly successful. However, the company decided that his salary should never exceed that of the CEO. So, Ross kept working until he was earning as much as the CEO, and then left to start his own company. So IBM lost their best salesman over some dumb dick measuring competition.
