So I've thought a lot about this: We seem to, as people, bend towards the liberal idea of the individual, NOT towards the Leftist (or Right) idea of it (which, truthfully, doesn't exist as far as they're concerned). Even the forefathers of social tech were techno-libertarians at one point, until the ad companies got involved.
If the internet has proven anything in the past 5-10 years, it's that trying to centralize conversations (which, in essence, is an attempt at centralizing opinions), only creates more resistance and animosity towards the entity that is trying to centralize it. Crypto, NFT's, Metaverse...all of these are attempts at wrestling control from the entities that seek to centralize everything, under the broad guise of "Safety and Security".
These things are by no means perfect, and in fact: A lot of people will be burned by the cowboys who are more adept at these new things than most people. But to NOT explore them at all, and to just relegate them as evil? It truly says more about you than what you're trying to say about it.
We've finally graduated past the point of SJW's and are now dealing with Karenism; a more modern, much more heightened version of Calvinism, which SJW's always were but after COVID...the training wheels came off.
