I'm glad you've taken a class on how to evaluate news sources. Perhaps you can help: What is an "accredited news organization?" What body does the accrediting? I've never heard of this. And once accredited they can then be sued for lying? If an "accredited news sources," say, makes up a story (lies) about space aliens landing, who has standing to sue? How are damages determined?
Obviously anyone can sue anyone over defamation, but I had no idea "credible news organizations" could be sued for lying.

I'm very disappointed. So there is no such thing as "accredited news," it's simply the fact that over-the-air broadcasts are regulated by the FCC, and there are no possible lawsuits for lying, but rather a complaint can be made to the FCC.I'm glad you asked.
