Spotify pushes industry plants on you, doesn’t it?

I use the radio feature a lot to get diverse playlists instead of just my own ones endlessly. It doesn’t matter what genre I use, I always get this one song near the top.

“Espresso” by Sabrina Carpenter. I have no idea why, it’s like bland Disney pop and has nothing to do with what I’m listening to, but it’s ALWAYS there. I don’t know who she is.

I just tried it by searching for a radio playlist based on Ray Wilson and it’s there again.

Sounds like Spotify knows exactly what you like.

My actual music taste is joy division, smiths, nirvana, new order, hacienda house music.

It’s generally quite good at recommending stuff but I’ve noticed recently it’s been pushing loads of bland generic shit pop music,
utterly class taste, mate. I listen to quite a few rave tunes that were played pretty regularly at the hacienda whenever I'm locked in at work

it's one of my all-time favourite films, about some of my all-time favourite bands. I still listen to joy division and happy mondays pretty regularly

I still think about and laugh at one exchange in it, almost daily.

“What kind of music is it?”

“Sort of indie”

“Indian? Don’t want none of that”

“Metal, that’s what you want, they drink like the fucking queen mother”

Recommendations are based on your preferences. Sounds like the algorithm knows you better than you know yourself.

I really think a few found their way in, and because I don’t turn them off while they play on the background, it’s played them so much it thinks I’m into it, so it pushes more, then the same thing happens till it thinks I like current day zog pop.

But it doesn’t do it to the few errant classic rock stuff, maybe it’s because new music gets precedent?

Hallelujah club mix, tart tart and kuff dam get played a lot in my music lists but I don’t listen to any other stuff by them, not sure why it just doesn’t do it for me.
from that era there are loads of different mixes 'cus it was hot in the club scene - some better than others, can't remember my favourite 'WFL (Wrote for luck)' remix, but gonna find it later.
