Maxed out cards, loans (refinanced mortgage), fools his friends and family into lending money with promises that he'll get it back when he wins. Dipping into (Nikki's) 401K, because he obviously doesn't have any retirement funds or investments besides his shitty books that don't sell.

Almost every statement he makes in this video reflects dead on about himself - it's the closest he can probably get to introspection.

Apparently he borrowed the money from the SFWA. Per their website:

  1. In the event that SFWA agrees to fund a loan, the member will sign a contract which outlines specific procedures which will be followed in pursuing the dispute gives SFWA a lien on any recovery in the action (by settlement or court order)—and a schedule of payments in the event the member loses the action—for repayment to the legal fund of the loan plus interest.
  2. Loans to active members in good standing will be limited to a maximum aggregate amount of 20% of the fund, which may only be used to pay for legal fees and costs (i.e., a member may not use the loan to pay damages in a case which s/he loses).

He'll have to pay that money back eventually. The $17k he will owe Quasi can't be used from the loan. So that'll come from Niki's mother. That's way he was so upset over losing $17k instead of the $100k. I believe the only reason he got their loan was because of how much he sucked up to both Mary Kowal and Rat Rambo. As a reminder both these cunts were in charge of the SFWA board when Edward Kramer was convicted of raping kids back in 2009. He retained his SFWA membership until he couldn't pay dues anymore while being in prison.

I think the board funded the loan because if there's one thing that these SFWA fags have in common, it's that they want to have personal veto power on any negative reviews.
