I was so hopeful for this book to be a true historical fantasy, but the storyline seemed written entirely to facilitate sex scenes. I'm not saying that's necessarily a bad thing, but I wish the author wasn't so heavy handed with it. More mystery, more magic, and more subtlety please. I couldn't even bring myself to finish it.
