In the shelter/rehab system opiod addicts and stimulant addicts and alcoholics tend to form into somewhat of tribes. Alcoholics (and most cocaine "addicts") are chauvinist in that they are more culturally accepted and tend to function better. Addicts tend to be chauvinist in their pride of how irreparably damaged, outside of normal society, and dangerous they are.
