It's definitely a mixture of stupidity and severe mental illness mixed in with extreme narcissism. He never thinks he's in the wrong due to his narcissism but he's not satisfied with just feeling like he's in the right at all times; he has to let everyone know, hence his constant arguing with everyone who disagrees with him. The trouble is he's too stupid to make valid points, so he just parrots 'wrong as always, stlaker' or 'do your own research'.

Somewhere he learnt that if he never concedes a point then it feels just like he's winning. This tactic also convinces the half-wits who follow him on Twitter, as they never think critically about his comments, never remember that he said the opposite thing yesterday, and never notice that whoever he's arguing with didn't actually quit in a huff after being out-witted but was in fact blocked by Fatrick.
...and then someone from here comes along and isn't fooled by his stunts and it drives Pat's blood pressure through the roof.
I very much look forward to Pat being interrogated under oath, as doubling down on a lie gets you a felony charge, and Jerry Jen seems like a man who'd deliberately set Pat up over and over to fail.
