I would have so much more respect for HR if they handled the serious problem of women being annoying in the workplace. There’s 3 mid 20s women working in the cubes near me and they haven’t shut up all day. There’s two men on their team a couple seats away from them and I think they’ve said a total of 10 words all day. Their only discussion today was last nights Phillies / Dodgers game that had an earthquake.

I would negotiate a pay rise every year of 5-8% and have to battle for it, then I would get a ton of bullshit from the woman in my same position about sexism and unfair work conditions even though she could do the same thing, but didn’t want the confrontation.

Last year and this year I haven’t bothered, because I feel my pay is actually fair and I don’t want the confrontation and aggregation either now that budgets are being slashed.

Anyway, they would always give her the same raise as me to keep things smooth, and because I haven’t done it she gets angry at me for some reason, like it’s my responsibility to do it for her every year.

The only thing you can’t fill is the outstretched hand of a perpetual victim.
