Patrick is incredibly dumb but he's smart enough to know that the types he's trying to appeal to will just eat up his horseshit without questioning it because he's on their side.

At some point lawyers would've needed to be hired and the matter would end with Patrick being required to pay attorneys fees. Might as well make that happen before being ID'd to a crazy person who wants to kill you and ruin your life.
