He said it was going for coverage. There's 3 ratings you can get from that: Recommend (they recommend a movie be made), Consider (this script could at least be considered for a movie), or Pass (this sucks, it's either worthless or needs wholesale edits).

The fact that he said he was doing rewrites/edits on it leads me to believe his PoS script was given a PASS rating. They probably told him to work on it some more and resubmit (code for "this is shit"). It probably costs some money to resubmit for coverage and since he's 125k in the hole and burning through his remaining funds like a drunken sailor, Rick probably can't afford to send it in again. He also probably knows it's not ready and never will be ready. He also probably knows he's fat.

I think that's the one that went out for "coverage". Unfortunately, like the rest of his work, it's dog shit and got no interest from anyone. As a result, he's currently re-writing it into a novel - because if people don't want a spoonful of dog shit, why not see if they'd like a plateful of it?

For those unaware of the lingo, "writing on spec" means you are writing with no publishing contract or promise that you will ever get paid for this work. Patrick has now been let go by two (2!) major scifi publishers.

It takes about a year for stuff to get traditionally published so he's not going to have anything out until 2023 at the earliest, unless he goes the self-published route (which we will never, ever let him live down. Plus, his book will be riddled with spelling errors).

He’s also a narcissist who is incapable of self-reflection so I’m certain he couldn’t figure out how to change it despite the small sample we’ve seen being utter dogshit that could be improved by pretty much anyone with a functioning brain. My assistant would toss that shit in the garbage long before I ever had a chance of seeing it.

Pat’s biggest issue, aside from total lack of talent, is he keeps writing stuff that, theoretically, people like me get made but not when people like him write it. It’s quite telling he went off on an “I hate horror” rant the other day when cheap horror or C-list action schlock is literally the only chance a bum like him would have of getting something picked up. Know your place, fatty.

Much easier to get a shitty novel picked up than a shitty screenplay. That might be the smartest choice he’s ever made.

He writes high-budget, high-concept science fiction movies... without a single action sequence anywhere. The trained fighter, proficient in several martial arts style, ends every conflict the same way: the Patrick-insert threatens the not-Patrick, and the not-Patrick immediately submits to their authority and orders.

You just know his scripts are filled with unnecessarily complicated descriptions of all the spaceship parts like that matters in a screenplay. Me explaining how the Quantum Destabilization Hyperdrive works is more important, child.
