Nope. His family was trying to pay it and he had money in his commissary to pay it-- he kept missing court dates (while inside jail). All his charges were a bunch of misdemeanors.

I've wondered this too.

I got along with him even if I didn't always agree with him. Which admittedly wasn't very often.

He did drop off the face of the earth, and it wasn't gradual, it was immediate.

I know a guy who used to be a guard there. He's not a bad guy exactly, but he doesn't seem like the kind of guy I'd expect to catch a screwdriver smuggled up someone's asshole to put it nicely.
