Difficult one. Personally I'd rather not count predators and iron-clad closet cases amongst our numbers, ymmv.
A nonce or a self-hating degen can also be a technical homosexual or downlow, the way Roy Cohn and Jeffrey Dahmer and Puffy were. Or the way brutes in prison like Keller from Oz are attracted moreso to men. It happens more than people think.
To be officially and properly gay and 'family' in the classical respectable Judy-approved sense, though, one has to have had a consensual non-abusive same-sex relationship or dalliance, preferably as two (or three, or whatever) adults and not in total secrecy, though of course it's sometimes impossible.
And unless we can verify whether anything took place between Ant & Danny, I can't qualify Ant in the second category (and honestly I don't want to, we don't claim him)
Fwiw though and with my Elton goggles on, I do think Anthony is or was in love with Opie and somehow still hasn't realised nor come to terms (tick tock, his hourglass is running out). Nothing else makes sense of all the drama across the whole timeline. And for Opie's part, I think he has or once had milder homoromantic feelings in return--he really did love Anthony deeply, no-one cries over another man publicly if they don't--but he isn't a homoSEXUAL (important distinction) and that's been a critical yet unspoken sticking point between them.
