You can run a guitar signal through all kinds of FX pedals. It's just an electrical signal so it can be altered as much as any synthesizer. You can take out highs lows mids, add overtones, harmonics, the possibilities are endless. Without FX pedals The Edge wouldn't have a career

How do you even make a guitar sound like this? Some pedal? It's definitely no DigiTech Looper.

It's a filter, like the typical guitar 'wah-wah' filter, but using a lowpass filter with moderate q-value instead of a steep bandpass filter. The cutoff frequency can be controlled with an envelope follower/generator (automatic), mechanically (rocking a foot pedal) or both.

I'm also hearing a pitch shifter (could be a DIGITECH!!! unit).
