When I ask someone under be age of 30 to put some music on I have very little faith in them putting on something that isn't awful.

We have a generation of young people who think that autotune is necessary for music because it's all they've heard over the past 15 years.

Happened recently at work. One of the younger guys asked "what happened to the music?" after a playlist stopped so I told him to put something on and he decides to put some rap and within 1 track I went over and changed it some decades playlist. He is no longer allowed to change the music when I'm around.

Plus rap is complete shit now, there’s next to zero effort in production and it’s all the same cheap produced beat. The songs barely have a hook and all blend together since it’s the same simple drum machine beats. At least they used to sample or even record music for the tracks but now it’s all just 4/4 time bum bum clap / ba-bum bum clap repeated over and over.

I watched a documentary on Dr Dre / Jimmy Iovine recently and it was interesting to watch Dre listen and react to music because he’s someone that hears it differently - they had him
at the board to do his own mix of Marvin Gaye’s “I want you” where he’s got all the music and vocal tracks in front of him and creating something different with it. That doesn’t happen anymore - it’s simple beats and mumbling.
