I dont want to be the resident "imam", im literally just a regular joe who happens to be Muslim...but here is the logic behind bacon

1-It is forbidden by Allah, so why even be jew-y and yearn for some loophole?
2-and yet Islam is also pragmatic, so if you are forced, or have no other choice, or otherwise consumed it while unaware...you are excused.

What's the reasoning behind this? Oddly enough I get banning prawns despite its high protein content, but bacon and porkchops are an affordable and nutritious way to nourish the body.

BTW the Jews banned shellfish and pork too, so something don't seem right. And I'm not jewy (except when it comes to paying bills and employees).

I knew this one, and yes it's fair. I just don't get why it's bad to eat pork, and okay to eat chicken. The most nutrient dense stuff from a chicken is its eggs, and once a chicken stops laying... it's an old bird. Why would you eat that?

Have you known any Muslims who got "tricked" into eating bacon or something, and then admitted it was delicious? It's not better than the fat off a lamb chop, but it's very close in quality.

It is part of your faith to obey commands unconditionally (submit to Allah's will). So I dont like Modern muslims with their 'trichonisis' talk. If Allah wanted us to know why He would say it. As far as I know, a good chunk of human beings were transformed into apes and pigs as punishment for breaking the Sabbath (7:166). Maybe consuming swine-flesh is like soylent green? Who knows? We are not to speculate.

Islam requires you to use "critical thinking". The Arabic word Fiqh means to critically think...a faqeeh is one who aplied critical thinking in his legal rulings. Quran constantly tells you to reflect on the signs it reports on. It is however part of Iman (faith) to obey Allah and his Commandments, this is in all religion as far as I know.
