Tbh I watched the remake and thought it was great until they started going with the narrative that All Along the Watchtower was playing in everyone's head or whatever (it's been years and i forgot) after that it became a case of getting to the end because I'd sunk all that time into it already and might as well finish.

Pat is a Hot Topic level fan of things. His understanding and appreciation of any given property goes no deeper than the t-shirt of it he's wearing, and he's only a fan so long as it's relevant and topical. I.e., he's not a Star Wars fan so much as he's a Disney fan.

He's never read Frank Herbert, Phillip K Dick or Zelazney, and he's definitely never read the founders of the genre like Edgar Rice Burroughs. Sure, he's watched Dune, but he's never read it, and there's no way he could make it through Blade Runner, much less THX 1138.

He's probably watched The Lord of the Rings theatrical cuts, but no way in hell he's ever read a page of Tolkien. He'd be too afraid to read anything by Robert E Howard.

Lotta problems with the Final Five in terms of plot and narrative. But, knowing that the 13th Colony (aka, cylons) went from being enslaved to enslavers was crucial to the story. Also, when you consider their roles in society (politics, military command, sports, military industry, Lady Macbeth) it makes perfect sense, they just sorta rushed it
