I can't remember much about it, so I just googled it. So he reads the book, and the whole story is just what happens in the book? I must've been a retarded kid, because I do remember wondering how he randomly got in and out of the book when it cut back to him reading it.

I used to live in a post war terraced house with a family next door whose dad was a drunk who would knock the wife about. Eventually he got taken away in the back of a police car. I used to watch this film with those kids and I found it all too sad and didn't like it. These kids it was a nice escape from daddy hitting mummy.

It's no Warriors Of Virtue but I liked it when I was a kid. I definitely would've bullied Bastian too. Woulda called him Bastard. The guy who does a bunch of the voices including Falcor is named Oppenheimer.

Gene Siskel called the kid who played Atreyu a "dullard" in his review. Calling a kid a dullard is pretty mean. He called the kid a retard based on his performance in a fantasy movie lol

Ron Howard wrote a letter to a reviewer after they mocked Jake Lloyd and blamed him for Episode I sucking ass (it did but that wasn't really his fault, as annoying as he was) and pointing out his own experiences and how hurtful that can be. Savagely insulting a child for being bad in a movie is kind of fucked up. That said their are adult actors I wish would trip and fall into a grain thresher so I don't have to see their shit movies anymore.

That Star Wars kid went on to go to prison for stabbing someone. And it seems like he really wasn't on that path until he had his life wrecked by that movie and started getting mercilessly bullied by children and adults over a stupid movie that he was in.
