Is ADHD real?

People in my life claim that the reason they can’t do the dishes, do homework or anything considered unpleasant but necessary. The tendency naturally arises to question this claim and assume it’s just a way to avoid working. Does anyone have experience with it or can prove its more than just a justification for being lazy as fuck.

I was diagnosed in middle school and was given medication for it.

My mom noticed I became a boring emotional faggot who just came home from school to sleep. She asked if I wanted to stop taking them I said yes and I became a little prick again, but wasn't boring.

Pretty sure I have a mild form of it. I can be talking to someone about something I am interested in but completely zone out and nothing sticks from the conversation. In loud places or where lots of conversations are going on at once I am completely hopeless so I pretend I am going deaf.

The bad parents seem to go to the drugs when they see behavior they don't like, other parents try parenting, diets, exercise, psychology etc before resorting to drugs. ADHD and ADD are real things it just seems that they are way too often used as excuses and drugs as a shortcut to parenting.

Before that.

There are loony modern parents that ascribe to the theory that your kids are leaders and you should allow them to do as much as possible without correction, and when you tell them what to do it's optional if the kid actually does it. This results in kids that constantly try to push boundaries because kids need to know where the boundaries are. The kids, especially boys, then get into a pattern of always looking for boundaries which, over many years, results in ADHD.

This one kid I'm thinking of, if his parents let him he can play Nintendo all day. They don't usually allow for that (one of the few boundaries they have is electronic screen time) but when he has special days he can do that non stop and he has no problem with attention span at all. I saw this firsthand before they put the little fucker on medicine.

So he doesn't have a chemical imbalance or anything, it's that you're raising an asshole who has no respect for you as parents. But go ahead and give the (((pharmaceutical companies))) money instead of figuring out why your kid sucks.

They pretend to know what a normal brain is but they're incapable of generating a model of what that means - you'd have to scan everyone's brains without somehow altering the results by the mere fact of measurement. Then you'd have to explain how so many people with brains that appear damaged have perfectly good lives.

There was a boy once who went to the hospital for a head injury and he had no brain at all, despite appearing perfectly normal. I'm sure they fucked him up by making a big deal of it but still.
