The American Fan is from Michigan and told me once Cow was syndicated in his area for about a year or two. Said it was practically unlistenable and like a weird, kayfabe exaggeration of things they say were happening but weren't. Usually involving Turd getting hurt.

It was mostly just heavy marketing and zero success behind it. Every once in a while CBS, Fox, Citadel, Clear Channel, Disney, or whoever would go crazy in radio trying to corner a specific market by buying out all the radio stations. Or go on a format flipping frenzy where they would instantly tank their entire radio market by going to Jack FM or some awful format that would eradicate listenership overnight. Mancow was part of some promotional blitz for conservative talk radio.

After 9/11 there was a massive increase of conservative talk radio and even "conservative" music radio. Every single broadcasting company tried to corner the market on right wing talk. Fox News literally built itself into the biggest news outlet by nonstop supporting Neocon talking points. Even stations where the jocks just wanted to play stupid pop music....had to chime in on air every quarter hour that their station didn't play "pro terrorist music like the Dixie Chicks.....MAAAAN!!".

Mancow was a jock who was chosen to be an ultra pro-George Bush supporter. He basically would do his shock jock crap, spin records, talk about whatever, but every quarter hour or so he would get handed some right wing talking point. "You....what...uh....Turd.....we've got to talk about the troop surge in Iraq right now and why it's important to support our President". "Yeah....uh...Turd....you gotta see what these anti-American liberals are saying about there being no WMDs in Iraq....can you believe this?".

Once Obama became President, Mancow's career tanked instantly. And he switched himself into this evangelical preacher type guy. The big preacher he hooked himself into like a tick ended up being some maniac who tried to have people murdered and allegedly was hiring assassins to whack his dissenters in the church.

When Trump became President many turned back to the same shit that happened under Bush. A shit ton of people non political went towards Anti-Trump humor because it was so easy. Then others went the niche route of being Pro-Trump. Jim Phillips who O&A visciously attacked ended up becoming a proto-conservative commentator with the slogan “Make Radio Great Again”. Yuck.
