Book is called the Freedom Model. It argues that people just genuinely like substances even despite the consequences. All the suffering of 'lifelong addicts' is just brainwashing by AA, you suffer because you're a brainlet who believed them.

They say addiction rates and overdoses have only gone up in any country that adopts the AA view of the addiction-disease model

I drink a fucking ton and if I just quit cold turkey I'd be totally fine. I wouldn't get DTs or any of that shit, I know because I've done it before.
