I read a book about how addiction is not any kind of neurological/biological problem, and are mostly a self-inflicted illusion.

I do hope this view gains more ground, so that even more people will consider Jim Norton a retard.

Book is called the Freedom Model. It argues that people just genuinely like substances even despite the consequences. All the suffering of 'lifelong addicts' is just brainwashing by AA, you suffer because you're a brainlet who believed them.

They say addiction rates and overdoses have only gone up in any country that adopts the AA view of the addiction-disease model

It can have components of all that, but the power is always with someone to quit and stay sober.

Consequence of the oppression olympics culture, I guess.

Fun fact, Bobby Kelly recently mentioned on The Bonfire that AA meetings are part of his DAILY routine to this day. What the fuck is the use in that? "Yeah duuuude, I go to the meetins every day because I need to be told that I'm diseased and powerless, duuude. You could almost say I'm addicted to it."
I've never been but from what I've heard a lot of it is just people basically bragging about what a fuck up they are.

That’s an absurd waste of time haha. He could be writing jokes or doing show prep.

That seems like even more of a waste of time for Blawby than whining to other faggots or that creepy comedy therapist.
I’m laughing at the idea of him having a bad day and being tempted to drink again then Norton ignores his call because his wife just beat him up. I didn’t hear your voicemail, genuinely.

Have you read any books that support the idea of it being a neurological/biological problem?

I don't know anything about addiction. I'm just wondering if you read one book on a topic and then decided it was correct.
I've read

I'm a Victim and So Are You!
How to Score Drugs and Manipulate Social Workers
You're Broken Forever and Only the Government Can Help You

Pretty uninspiring tbh
