My ribs still get tickled when I think about how when Stern first introduced his new gf/wife Beth to the show he let Sal Governale interview her and his very first question was "Do you find Joey Ramone sexually attractive?" and she was like " Ummm...yes?". Stern is one ugly muthafucka.
No idea why I liked Blues Traveler as a little kid. ‘Twelve Swords’ used to make me bawl like a tiny emo prog-nerd fag (which I was), and I liked dancing around to ‘Carolina Blues’ and ‘But Anyway’.
Years later, after I grew out of their music, I remember I read one critical review of the band in passing. The only praise this writer had for BT was that Popper’s voice is unique in recorded music, in that he sings just like a harmonica sounds. Which does explain a lot. Annoying as his vocals can be, they are distinct and hard to imitate. His harp solos are indulgent and go on for fucking ever, too.

Another good ugly Stern story is when he was fishing for a compliment from sexy ass Jaime Pressly and he called himself ugly, wanting her to be like "Nooo. I think ur cute!" and she just goes "Yeah, you were slapped the yarmulke." I bet he talked about that one in therapy for years.

John Popper also once did Letterman and wrote in his book that one of the models on the show talked to him before his set and said "I'm currently dating Howard Stern". Problem was that this was over a year before Howard's public separation in 1999. Meaning that Beth, who is rumored to have been an escort in NYC, was 'dating' Howard in 1998. And also dating him before Howard allegedly went on what he called "a tear" of women that he had sex with (who coincidentally were all also Don Buchwald clients).
So this guy was responsible for exposing that Howard's dating history was a lie inadvertently. Leading to people into digging up Howard's supposed celebrity dating spree and finding out that 100% of women Howard dated after his separation were arranged dates with Don Buchwald clients to make them more famous. As Don Buchwald was Howard's radio agent. And also digging into how Beth had met Howard which was that she was escorting with some dude and approached Howard. And he started using her services, likely as a beard, to recover his public image after his movie bombed and his wife dumped him for a wealthier jew.

That style of singing I imagine does require some straining, etc., but he looks much more relaxed and is grimacing way less than when Brotha Joe talk-sings "sultans of swing" ha

Also @LingerLonger i just realized ... Did Howie start the whole narcissistic "Birthday" show bit? It was always presented like the radio station was doing it for him, but did Imus or any of the prior big radio guys get "Birthday" shows? I bet Howard requested they start doing that for him
It's odd how Howard has been having his special boy birthday shows for decades now...as if the listener is supposed to care about a grown man's birthday
