It's actually worse than what you're describing. It's not like he works hard but happens to be talentless and thus writes awful fiction. He doesn't try to write good stories. He doesn't even take the time to think about what makes a great story or character great.

He just plops his disgusting laptop down at Hooligans and starts writing aimlessly like he's trying to finish an English paper that's due in 5 minutes.

He thinks he's good because he found a publisher who will publish literally anything and even they want nothing to do with him anymore because he's a worse writer than Mike Boccheti.
